Vacancies

Teaching

Hurst has an exceptionally talented and committed common room with consistently high standards of teaching and learning across all departments. We look for experienced teachers to join us and inspire pupils to make the most of their potential and engage with the wealth of extraordinary opportunities available. A comprehensive new starter induction and support programme is in place to support the smooth transition to Hurst.

Our teaching staff are involved in school activities beyond simply teaching lessons. Teaching staff run co-curricular activities and clubs for the pupils and are encouraged to take part in charity initiatives and events. They benefit from an engaging social calendar of events and access to on-site facilities such as our swimming pool and gym.

Over half of the pupils in the Senior School are boarders (weekly or flexi), providing additional opportunities for teachers to be fully immersed in Hurst life. Some teachers are selected as tutors for a House (boarding or day) and many choose to live in our high-quality on-site accommodation.

Hurst Sport

We firmly believe that sport is for all and offer a wide range of sports to our pupils in order to promote a healthy, active lifestyle. Hurst has an outstanding sports record in county, regional, and national competitions and boasts excellent facilities with an enviable number of courts, pitches and AstroTurfs.

We look to recruit talented, energetic, and inspiring sports coaches across all our sports to take our young athletes to the next level.

Our Sports Staff are offered an extensive Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme, including fully funded opportunities for ambitious individuals to attain and progress through nationally recognised qualifications for coaching and umpiring in a range of sports.

Support Staff

For Hurst to run effectively, we need efficient and strong Support teams, with professionals delivering a seamless service to our customers and enabling the teaching staff to deliver a superb education to the pupils. Support teams deliver the multi-faceted demands required across the College at the highest level in areas including Administration, Admissions, Estates, Exams, Finance, Grounds, Human Resources, Marketing, and Transport.

Teacher Training

For those who would like to explore a career in teaching, we offer ‘Teach Hurst’ – our pioneering Teacher Training Programme. Whether you are fresh from university, or have career experience in another area, we welcome applications from well-qualified graduates across a variety of different subject areas to become part of our programme.

In the same way that we care about the personal development of every single pupil, we also care about the development - personal as well as professional - of every member of staff. This requires a significant degree of commitment, and it comes with huge rewards for those who embrace the challenge. Lloyd Dannatt, Deputy Head of College
